Melissa Averett of Averett Family Law was elected to the Executive Committee of the Family Law Council of the NC Bar Association at the Annual meeting of the NC Family Law Section. She will begin her 3 year term on July 1, 2017. The Family Law Council proposes new laws and responds to proposed statutes addressing family law issues. If the NC General Assembly is scheduled to vote on a proposed law before the full Family Law council meets, then Attorney Averett and the other members of the Executive committee will make recommendation on the bill on the Council’s behalf. While serving as a member of the Executive Committee of the Family Law Council, Attorney Averett will also continue her service as the Chair of the Domestic Violence committee.
